"Play is a child's first language; the toys are their words"

"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation"

Play Therapy

Adults use words as symbols for meaning in their lives. Children use play as their symbols for meaning. Play is a child's way of making sense of their world. It is their language.

Play Therapy refers to a large number of treatment methods, but all apply the therapeutic benefits of play. The therapist helps children to address and resolve their own problems. Through play therapy children learn to communicate, express feelings, modify behavior, and develop problem solving skills.

"I'm convinced that when we help our children find healthy ways of dealing with their feelings--ways that don't hurt them or anyone else--we're helping to make our world a safer, better place."
